If I had long dark hair, I would be a flamenco dancer. (Because of course I’d be fabulous! . . . or at least really enthusiastic.) The combination of Irish clogging and tap dance, the sultry passionate music, and those dresses that look foolish hanging on the rack but amazing in the action – what is not to love? I went 3 times in 3 different towns. Kira gave it up in Madrid, and went to a Yacht concert, a band from Olympia/Portland.

We were in Sanlucar de Barrameda the over the Easter weekend. This is the town Magellan left from!!!! Magellan – really, Magellan! And Vasco da Gama. I was suffused with awe. Kira and I sat in a park near the beach to eat lunch and read The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov aloud. (Very interesting, humorous, thought-provoking – I recommend it.) Cranes were flying overhead, silhouetted against the blue sky. The wind blew so hard. And this is where Magellan left from. Wow.
